People Watching

When I’m bored I like to make up stories and lives for strangers I see in the street.

I’m not sure whether it falls into the categories of creepy or stalkerish, but I thought I would put that out there regardless.

Like when you see two people sitting near each other on a train, and you don’t know if they know each other or if they’re just complete strangers. But you see that they are reading similar books so you imagine that they are eloping, or engaged, or maybe they have just met for the first time and decided to swap books for a chapter because they were bored and thought the other one was cute. And then afterwards they would explain to each other what the chapter they just read was about and they’d meet up everyday on the train on the way to work and do it again. Or maybe they are actually brother and sister and the story I just made up becomes very yucky and gross.

Damn, that was kinda good (well, until I ruined it with the sibling thing). I should turn my talents to writing cheesy, romantic literature. I’d make millions.

Or today, I was waiting in the car at the petrol station waiting for my mum to finish paying for petrol (as you do in petrol stations) when I saw this old woman. And she seemed like a proper, knit-you-a-hat-and-gloves gran. So I imagined she collected samurai swords. And she was like a proper ninja in her youth and could probably still beat me in a fight.

I don’t know, it’s just something I do to pass the time.

I wonder if anyone has ever imagined a story for me.

Things that have happened in my life recently

1) I’ve finished school for another year and seemed to have avoided receiving any homework for the summer. Well sort of. I’m guessing the school’s going to force me into doing what’s called and EPQ, which is basically a 5000 word essay on something (unless I fail all my exams, which I’m hoping I won’t). But I really don’t want to do it, it seems like a lot of effort for not a lot of reward. I’m not doing it. I feel like a rebel.
2) The “c” button on my laptop is broken. You have to press it really hard to get a “c”. It’s annoying.
3) FREE STUFF FROM UNIVERSITIES
free!
Imperial has the best stuff by far. If I were to choose a university based on the free stuff they gave me, Imperial would definitely win. They gave me a Frisbee!
4) But on a serious note I’m completely in love with Cambridge. I didn’t think about applying there until my careers adviser suggested it last year because, you know, it’s Cambridge. Only super geniuses go there like Stephen Fry. I’m kinda expecting to not get in because all the statistics are against me. Before I would have been okay with that, but now I’ve visited the place I’ll be really quite sad about it. Also the food served at the university is really cheap there. I wouldn’t have to cook or anything; that’ll be perfect for me.
5)Also loved the University of Southampton. The Physics department seems really friendly and they had ducks! Not specifically the Physics department, I think the ducks were a general university feature.
6) I think I an officially known as the one who really likes Doctor Who. People I have never met in my life know me as the one who really likes Doctor Who. I’m uncertain how I feel about this
7) So, yeah, Summer. I got a new computer chair. It’s gonna be a good one.
