I don’t know, I just really don’t care that much. And I always thought make up is a weird concept anyway. Oh hang on, I’m almost ready, I just need to finish painting my face. It’s a weird thing when you think about it. I’m not saying it’s a heinous crime to enjoy applying make-up, I can understand the attraction of it, it’s like art only for your face. I guess lots of things seem weird when you really think about it. Like sleep. Sleep is so weird. Every night we just lie down, lose consciousness for a couple of hours and see weird images inside our minds.

But back to make up, on my quest for knowledge on the topic I came across an article entitled “Is it wrong to use blue eyeshadow?” and I just wanted to shout sarcastic comments at the screen. Because wearing blue eyeshadow is obviously one of the great crimes of the modern era. No it isn’t bloody wrong to wear a shade of eyeshadow. Even if it makes you look hideous then it still isn’t wrong BECAUSE IT’S JUST EYESHADOW. No one should care about what you paint on your eyes. Or eyelids I guess. I don’t think painting your actual eyes would be all that comfortable.

It’s November again, which means it’s the time of year where everyone wears one of these.

It’s a simple sign of respect and remembrance for the soldiers who fought in World War One. Also in buying on you’re giving money to The Royal British Legion, who help members of the armed forces and their families. Now around this time of year everyone on TV is expected to wear a poppy, even characters in soaps wear them. But in the last couple of years there’s been this trend where people don’t just wear the simple paper poppy, but wear these.

To which my response is: NO.

This is from Strictly Come Dancing, but these sparkly poppies have been popping up everywhere. And I just find this really disrespectful. Poppies are turning into a fashion accessory. I even found this article here showing pictures of celebrities wearing sparkly poppies and saying to “Get the Look”, like it’s talking about clothes or jewellery or something tiresome like that.

Poppies should be plain and simple and really cheap to make so that as much money as possible goes to charity, not a bloody fashion accessory to be discussed in women’s magazines.

Aaaaahhhh, ooooohhhh, I haven’t blogged here in forever. Well obviously not literally forever. For a while. Well a month and a bit. That’s not too bad is it?

Not going to be an interesting blog. Because right now my life is being taken up with UCAS and applying to university. I have been checking my UCAS every two hours, hoping maybe it will change and I’ll get an offer somewhere. But nope. It just sits there, staring back at me. Mocking me.

Also Doctor Who happened. Have I talked about Doctor Who yet? Because dayum. I loved the second half of series six, but I did find the final to be a bit of a let down. Finals should make me cry and scream at the screen and be a complete emotional wreck. This won just sort of left me disappointed. It wasn’t even that confusing; everyone had already guessed most of it. Oh, the Doctor’s a robot. I guess that’s cool. At least Craig’s hat didn’t get destroyed. All very “meh”.

Anyway, that is all for now and I am going to the dentist. Yay.

I have this bookmark folder named “Places I want to go”. Ignoring the glaring grammar mistakes in that title, it contains, well, bookmarked pages reminding myself of places I want to visit one day. So I’m sharing some of them.

Big Epic Tour of Britain
I’m British, I’ve lived in Britain all my life, but the furthest away I’ve gone from home without leaving the country is Manchester. I want to visit all the touristy places like the castles in Scotland, and the sights in London. I’m going to go on a Beatles pilgrimage, visiting Abbey Road and Liverpool. And I’m going to visit Wales and go find Torchwood 2. I love the idea of travelling around the country that feels like home and discovering new things about it. And I have this lovely image in my head of sitting in an independent coffee shop drinking hot chocolate and reading a secondhand book I’ve just bought from a newly discovered book shop. Cliched I know, but it sounds lovely.

San Diego Comic Con
I’m a geek. Completely obsessed with Doctor Who. I love all kinds of sci-fi, to the extent that some of my earliest memories are watching Star Wars. And honestly Comic Con sounds like heaven to me. I rarely come across people equally as geeky as me, but to have a whole convention of them? And I’ve always wanted to do the whole cosplay thing, I have my TARDIS dress all planned out. I’m doing this. Even if I have to go alone, I’m going to Comic Con one day.

Amsterdam
This has been bookmarked twice so I’m guessing I really want to go here. I just have a general plan to travel around Europe, visiting museums and seeing the sights. Amsterdam is where I’ve planned out in the most detail though; I’ve even written a travel plan on Word that takes up several places. Did you know there is a clog making museum there? I want to go to a clog making museum.

The Mumbles
I’m not entirely sure where the Mumbles is. Or whether that sentence should have ended with “are” instead. I’m pretty sure it’s in Wales. I’m also pretty sure it exists. I have no idea what is there. I would just like to visit somewhere with the name “The Mumbles”. It sounds like some sort of adorable Time Lord name. All I have to go on for this one is that David Tennant once mentioned it in Doctor Who Confidential, so I presume it must be good.

I’ve started school again! This year is my last year, which to be honest is kinda scary. I’m really looking forward to going to university. I can’t wait to have my independence. I want to be able to make my own decisions and make my own mistakes, and if that means getting fat from all the chocolate I’m planning to eat for breakfast then so be it. But at the same time it’s very daunting, and it’s beginning to dawn on me that this is it. After this year it’ll be over, and I’ll never go to school again. So it’s kinda scary.

Also I got on Pottermore! I have literally been brewing potions all day non-stop, because, dammit, Slytherin can’t win it’s not right. I got sorted into Ravenclaw, which is what I always considered myself to be. I would be annoyed if I wasn’t because I already own a Ravenclaw scarf and it cost like $35. My wand is a phoenix feather which makes me feel like a special snowflake because apparently they are the rarest.

Lastly, I made a new layout! It’s meant to be the Doctor and Rose, I hope you can tell that! Surprisingly few headdesks and tears in making this layout, I think I must be improving my coding skills. And I’ve updated my about me page! As always, if any typos or mistakes are spotted please let me know!

That is all for now, I’m going to go find some way to avoid homework now.

I did good.

I’m happy.

I’m not going to try and be modest and say that I didn’t do good. Because I did and I worked hard and I’m proud of that. Also by saying that I didn’t do good is basically saying to anyone who didn’t do as good as me that they suck too. So yeah, modesty isn’t always a good thing.

I feel like doing my happy dance.

My results were: Grade A in all my subjects overall, As in every module except two which were Bs. Also full marks in both my physics exams and one maths one!* EEEEEEEEE!

*although I should point out here that I got full UMS. UMS is the uniform mark which is not necessarily the same as your actual mark so I may not have actually got everything 100% right. It’s kinda complicated and I can’t be bothered to explain it again after explaining it to every family member and family friend I have. But I’m still pleased about it!

Basically, YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

When I’m bored I like to make up stories and lives for strangers I see in the street.

I’m not sure whether it falls into the categories of creepy or stalkerish, but I thought I would put that out there regardless.

Like when you see two people sitting near each other on a train, and you don’t know if they know each other or if they’re just complete strangers. But you see that they are reading similar books so you imagine that they are eloping, or engaged, or maybe they have just met for the first time and decided to swap books for a chapter because they were bored and thought the other one was cute. And then afterwards they would explain to each other what the chapter they just read was about and they’d meet up everyday on the train on the way to work and do it again. <del datetime="2011-07-26T21:37:57+00:00">Or maybe they are actually brother and sister and the story I just made up becomes very yucky and gross. </del>

Damn, that was kinda good (well, until I ruined it with the sibling thing). I should turn my talents to writing cheesy, romantic literature. I’d make millions.

Or today, I was waiting in the car at the petrol station waiting for my mum to finish paying for petrol (as you do in petrol stations) when I saw this old woman. And she seemed like a proper, knit-you-a-hat-and-gloves gran. So I imagined she collected samurai swords. And she was like a proper ninja in her youth and could probably still beat me in a fight.

I don’t know, it’s just something I do to pass the time.

I wonder if anyone has ever imagined a story for me.

	1) I’ve finished school for another year and seemed to have avoided receiving any homework for the summer. Well sort of. I’m guessing the school’s going to force me into doing what’s called and EPQ, which is basically a 5000 word essay on something (unless I fail all my exams, which I’m hoping I won’t). But I really don’t want to do it, it seems like a lot of effort for not a lot of reward. I’m not doing it. I feel like a rebel.
2) The “c” button on my laptop is broken. You have to press it really hard to get a “c”. It’s annoying.
3) FREE STUFF FROM UNIVERSITIES

Imperial has the best stuff by far. If I were to choose a university based on the free stuff they gave me, Imperial would definitely win. They gave me a Frisbee!
4) But on a serious note I’m completely in love with Cambridge. I didn’t think about applying there until my careers adviser suggested it last year because, you know, it’s Cambridge. Only super geniuses go there like Stephen Fry. I’m kinda expecting to not get in because all the statistics are against me. Before I would have been okay with that, but now I’ve visited the place I’ll be really quite sad about it. Also the food served at the university is really cheap there. I wouldn’t have to cook or anything; that’ll be perfect for me.
5)Also loved the University of Southampton. The Physics department seems really friendly and they had ducks! Not specifically the Physics department, I think the ducks were a general university feature.
6) I think I an officially known as the one who really likes Doctor Who. People I have never met in my life know me as the one who really likes Doctor Who. I’m uncertain how I feel about this
7) So, yeah, Summer. I got a new computer chair. It’s gonna be a good one.

I was going to do a nice post about applying to university. But then Torchwood happened so that went out the window. I’ll get to doing proper blogging soon. It’s just that when there is new Doctor Who type stuff IT IS MY LIFE AND THERE IS NOTHING ELSE.

*coughs*

So I’ll just do some points.

1) I don’t like that America got to see it first. Now I know what all those American Doctor Who fans feel like. I just feel like “BUT IT OURS WE SHOULD GET IT FIRST” *GRABBY HANDS*

2) I really enjoyed it though. Gwen was a BAMF as always and the baby was cool. I loved the baby. You know how when Gwen was shooting that gun and the baby was just smiling like “Yeah, you go mum!”? That was groovy.* I’ve never really liked Rhys that much though. I don’t like how he talks to Gwen sometimes, seems a bit violent.

3) JACK I’VE MISSED YOOOOUUUUUUUU! He’s not healing though. I think he needs a doctor. Do you see what I did there? Wouldn’t it be amazing if he met Eleven though? You can just imagine though. He’s be flirting with Amy and Rory. And River. Oh my God, Jack and River.

4) I did enjoy it, but it felt different. I definitely noticed the American influence on it. It felt a bit like an American crime drama thing. It wasn’t too overpowering but I really don’t want it to carry on that way. I like that Torchwood is completely different to CSI. Remember when in series 1 they made fun of CSI, with Andy talking about wanting to see CSI Cardiff? I hope it doesn’t go too far in the CSI direction.

5) ANDY IS TOTALLY THE RORY OF TORCHWOOD.

On a related note, has anyone listened to Still Got Legs by Chameleon Circuit? It’s awesome!

*I’m bringing groovy back

Also, this layout is messed up in Internet Explorer. The padding is off and I can’t be bothered/not entirely sure how to fix it. It still looks okayish though. And if you’re still using Internet Explorer anyway and you’re reading this go and download a better browser. It will make your life so much better.

In other blog related news I’ve added a few new pieces of artwork to my artwork page. Also have made a few new fanlistings if you want to go an have a look at them.

Yeah, that’s about it really. I’m looking at universities at the moment. Expect a post in the near future comparing them (by which I mean, I’m taking photos of the free stuff they give me. I know where my priorities lie).

Oh and if you see any bugs comment here or something. I will try to fix them :)
